The Discovery That Can Change The World
As we know it, our world is slowly dieing. We should do our best to make it a suitable living place for future generation, so that they may have the same amount quality and experiences in their own lives that we have. One big problem that causes our earth to die, is in the environment department, and some of these problems include, pollution from factories, idling cars etc. We must take action to stop out planet from dieing, and do our best to find ways to maintain its properties, and two high school girls have done just that. These two girls have found a possible solution to our major plastic wast problem.
One year ago, two high school girls named, Miranda Wang, and Jeanny Yao discovered a bacteria in the Fraser River, that can break down phthalates, which are found in plastic water bottles and other items. Miranda, and Jeannys goal, was to use this bacteria to break down plastic, taking the time to break down an apple. Since plastic bottles will take at least 1000 years to properly be disposed and broke down, it is amazing how this bacteria can break down plastic with just the time to break down a apple core, which approximately takes 3 months.
There discoveries were valued at 10 million dollars for commercial purposes, and i personally think that, that price is definitely fair. If you think, and look at the amazing discovery these to high school teenagers have made, it is possibly a glimpse of our futuristic utopia. Just imagine, with a sprinkle of this bacteria, and you look in your garbage the day of the trash pick up, and find that your plastic bottles have broken down, and can now be disposed of easily. IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
These two high school students, are the type of people that we need in todays society to help our communities grow, and to make our planet, the beutiful and green Earth blossom. I think that we can be these people if we just put our minds to it. I would like to conclude by saying that, these amazing dicoveries in our world, often start with a tiny idea, and then later growing into a full grown tree. We have plenty of time to make our world a better place, and we just gotto put our minds to it.
INCREDIBLE!!
