THE COLUMBINE - David Zhu

The Columbine was a high school massacre that happened in California, and this event was caused by two teenager boys who got hold of arms illegally. The event was considered the biggest high school massacre in history, and thirteen people were killed and 21 were injured.

The two teenagers were supposedly listening to dark rock by a artist named Marilyn Manson. The dark rock Marilyn made gave the boys the courage to injure and kill so many people. Many people blamed Marilyn as the reason this event occurred, and in my opinion blaming Marilyn Manson is not the reasonable thing to do simply because Marilyn Manson was just trying to make a living off something he loves to do, and like all other human beings on Earth we are all trying to live happy and peaceful lives.

One of the major concerns that were discussed in the video was about violent entertainment. One simple example is violent video games, and that it effects children and gives them violent and unpleasant thoughts. I do not believe that adults should not let children play violent video games as long as the parents are controlling the time their children are playing and not becoming addicted to it.

A equally large problem is influence. Influence takes a very large place in our society. Influence can take the simple form of looking up too your big brother. Equally likely influence can take a bad form. Joining a gang can be influenced when you hear other people talking about how cool it is or how much money you get a week for working for that gang. You can also be influenced by watching a violent movie and copying a certain violent character in the movie which will grow gradually into robbery and killing.

In this world there are many things that can motivate and give the power to a person to do something like causing a massacre, and you can not blame a certain person like Marilyn Manson for motivating the two teenager boys who caused the massacre because you do not have solid evidence that Marilyn did such a thing. Many things could have influenced the two boys, and we will never find out what actually did influenced them, but one thing we can be sure of is never let horrible things influence you in life.
