Bowling For Columbine - Eugene Wong

In my opinion, the cause of the Columbine massacre can not be pinned a specific factor or variable. Instead, the massacre was a result of many small factors that all contributed equally. I believe that if any of the following three variable were improved, the massacre would not have happened. These variable are bullying in school, gun control, poor law enforcement performance.

When I first heard about the shooting, I asked what had caused these seemingly ordinary teen to go on a killing spree? After a bit research, I found several sources that said the reason for their action was because they were not happy with there lives. Allegedly, they were both victims of bullying and were "outcasts from society". This seems like the most likely explanation to me (violence in media may have been a factor, but not the leading cause) and if bullying was as acceptable in schools, these incident would not have occured.

Secondly, I strongly believe that America needs stricter gun control laws. Most of you have probably now heard of the most recent shooting in Connecticut. Again, a simple change in the legal system to ban automatic weapons and to make ammunition accessible would have prevented both the shooters in both incidents from obtaining their weapons. IN
