Martin Sheen, a famous actor born in the USA, delivered a speech at Weday, a "Me to We" event. It is where children all over North America come and work together to make the world a better place to live in. Martin presented a powerful speech on all the wrong things going on in the world. Although the speech was well spoken, it was also quite hard to understand what the speech was about.
As always, the speech starts off with some background information on the speaker himself, Martin Sheen. Martin’s parents were both from poor families in Europe. Both of his parents immigrated to the US and met there. He had ten siblings, Martin is the seventh son. He moved to New York going after a career in the theatre. Not only is he an amazing actor, but he also is an activist, which is why he is at Weday.
Martin Sheen’s speech is extremely powerful, due to the wording and his amazing skill at public speaking. The way the speech is said, you can easily tell how impressive his acting skills are (although of course what he says is probably what he really means). Despite the fact that he is almost yelling the whole time, it actually makes the speech more powerful.
What I think makes the speech extremely impressive are the metaphors. The speech contained what I think are the most intense metaphors I’ve ever heard. Being experienced in drama, he has some of the most dramatic ideas in his mind it’s unbelievable.
The wording of the speech and his skills at public speaking is what I think makes this one a great speech.
