Obama delivered a speech several days ago asking to be reelected for president. This speech not only shows the Democratic ambitions but also it is in favour of the majority of the US. The speech includes raising taxes for the rich, cheaper Medicare, ending the war in Afghanistan, finding jobs, and cheaper education.
At the beginning of the speech, Obama refers to and talks about his family a lot. This may seem somewhat informal but it is a good tactic to have the people of U.S.A. not only think of him as the President but also as an ordinary person. He talks about his grandparents as poor people. This makes him seem as if he understands what the poor have gone through. He is also talking about his past, how and why he became the President. This section of the speech may seem unneeded, but it does make a good introduction.
Tax is the next thing he is speaking about. Obama states that he does not think tax cuts are going to help the nation move on. Those who need tax cuts will be given them, but for millionaires tax would stay. I think that if the taxes on the rich get too high, many of the multi millionaires will start moving out of the country. Although this may not be a good thing, it still goes in favor of the majority of the U.S.A. Obama supports products made in USA. He talks about how they saved GMC from never making cars again. I think it is a bad thing that many factory jobs are going over to countries like China because the salaries there are much lower. It may be better for the company but many people in both the US and Canada will lose their jobs. Obama is rewarding those companies that make jobs in the US and I think that is a good thing to do. Another job creating investment that the Democrats want to make is clean energy. It is important to a country to rely on its own energy and even more important that the environment is not damaged in the process. Many jobs can be created by making turbines, dams, and solar panels. This will enable the U.S.A. to be a step closer to a greener environment.
Education is an important component to which many people are going to vote for. If the President's speech does not include education improvement or lowering the cost of tuition, chances are that the President would get a lot less votes. Obama does include that he wants the students to achieve their dreams and be able to have the right skills to get a good paying job. He also wants the worst schools in the US to be able to teach kids properly and have a functioning building to sustain the students. He wants teachers to teach and students to study at the maximum potential.
Obama promises that the war in Afghanistan will be ended by 2014. Obama has already stopped one of the wars and should be able to do it again. It is important that the hard working soldiers of the US be rewarded for their efforts. They should be able to go back to their families and live happily for the rest of their lives. I think when soldiers come home from fighting; they shouldn't have to fight for a job. On that, Obama thinks the same. They have already struggled enough, they don’t have to again. It is also important that the Medicare is cheaper. I totally agree that the old shouldn't have to use their savings just to afford Medicare. Obama says that he will make sure that this will never happen.
In all, Obama’s speech goes in favour of the majority. If his plan works America would change for the better. If I were to vote, my vote would be all the way for Obama.
