Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech

When we were still excited by President Obama’s DNC speech and his enthusiastic progress report of the promises he made four years ago, Romney poured a bucket of cold water on our heads to make us rethink whether Mr. Obama was telling the truth or not. In the 2012 Republican Nomination Ceremony, Mr. Mitt Romney, the 2012 presidential nominee attracted his audiences by using many different strategies.

Mitt Romney RNC Speech

This year, Romney is attempting to beat Obama with his RNC speech aiming towards being the next president of the United States of America. His speech had a few points that he strongly believed in. He thinks that strong military power is needed to stop problems like Iran’s growing nuclear threat. He promises that small businesses and middle class people won’t have problems with tax. He also states that he doesn’t care about saving the Earth, and he won’t do anything about it.

Romney’s Republican Convention Speech

Although I have a strong dislike for Republicans, I can’t say that Romney’s speaking skill is any worse than Obama’s. It is amusing how both politicians use the same speaking skills and speech elements, but convey hugely different message. Romney says he wants to make your family better, but Obama says he can make the world better. Romney wants to keep America stationary, believing in old-fashioned views like Russian being the American enemy, whereas Obama can bring America forward, supporting new ideas like gay marriage. Here, is my compare and contrast of the speeches by Romney and Obama.

Martin Sheen

Martin Sheen recently delivered a very powerful and thought-provoking message during a WE-Day gathering. The event attracted thousands, and many were moved to tears by his speech. Although some of his tactics were misused, I believe that he is, in general, a very motivational speaker.

Martin Sheen’s Me to We Speech

Listening to this speech was truly enjoyable for me. I already know quite a bit about this cause, because Me 2 We in my school invites well-known activists to our school, most recently Spencer West. Martin Shee is an actor, who you may recognize from movies such as The Amazing Spiderman (2012). This is my opinion on his public speaking skills.

Martin Sheen’s Speech

Martin Sheen was a great actor, a great activist and was a naturally  great speaker. At the We Day 2010, Martin Sheen gave a speech about activism. He told everybody that lost causes in their lives were worth fighting for. You could see how he empowered and inspired the audience by his motivating words and by connecting with his audience.

Martin Sheen Speech Review

“I’ve been an actor all of my life, in fact, I have no conscious memory of ever not being an actor. But while acting is what I do for a living, activism is what I do to stay alive.”

Martin Sheen Weday Speech

Martin Sheen, a famous actor born in the USA, delivered a speech at Weday, a "Me to We" event. It is where children all over North America come and work together to make the world a better place to live in. Martin presented a powerful speech on all the wrong things going on in the world. Although the speech was well spoken, it was also quite hard to understand what the speech was about.

barack obama 2012 democratic national convention

Most of you probably know Barack Obama, the president of the United States of America and arguably one of the most popular icons in the world. This video is him at the 2012 democratic national convention.

Martin sheen speech review

“One heart with courage is the majority” – Martin Sheen. Activism is the only way to stay alive. These are the thoughts of Martin Sheen who addressed the We Day speech in Vancouver in 2010.  His words are powerful, his words are meaningful, and his words are motivating.

obama speech review

According to the video, which I watched. President Obama has been that, it will not change the policy route, he will carry out the work has not been completed within the four-year term.  He described the policy will help the development of middle class, but also conducive to the country’s future. Voters have a clear choice between the Democrats and Republicans line.

Obama Speech Review

Obama delivered a speech several days ago asking to be reelected for president. This speech not only shows the Democratic ambitions but also it is in favour of the majority of the US.  The speech includes raising taxes for the rich, cheaper Medicare, ending the war in Afghanistan, finding jobs, and cheaper education.

Obama’s Democratic Convention 2012 Speech

I like to follow American politics, so I would have watched Obama’s speech live anyways. I personally, have never agreed with basic Republican views, but it was not till I heard this speech till I truly sided with the Democrats. This speech demonstrates his ability to be an articulate public speaker, which is the main reason I respect him. While I listened to his speech, I also picked up a few interesting things he does that are worth sharing.

DNC 2012- Barack Obama

Many people regard US President Barack Obama’s public speaking skills as not only a factor in his success, but as the prime reason for his success. His powerful communication skills has led to his inauguration in 2008, and perhaps even his re-election in 2012.

Many people regard US President Barack Obama’s public speaking skills as not only a factor in his success, but as the prime reason for his success. His powerful communication skills has led to his inauguration in 2008, and perhaps even his re-election in 2012.
The primary tactic he uses to impress the crowds, and ultimately win their votes, is colourful and vivid imagery. When describing America’s innovation, he states: “...and everyone shared in the pride and success – from the corner office to the factory floor”. Similarly, he never mentions a fact without attributing it to a specific location. Examples of this are seen throughout. When speaking of the American auto-industry, he says: “I've met workers in Detroit and Toledo who feared they'd never build another American car.” Likewise, many other facts contain specific locations.

Another method he employs is that of constant repetition. From what I heard, his main idea stressed “two choices”. After every main topic, such as energy, finances, or employment, he constantly reminds the audience that the choice is theirs. He reminds them that the difference between what the Democrats offer and what the Republicans offer was in the hands of the People.

To be able to use the above mentioned strategies, and succeed, requires the knowledge of the crowd that he is speaking to. This is clearly seen when he was speaking at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. His message was tailored to students, blue-collared workers, and therefore was directed at the middle-class. He was not speaking to the upper-class, else his message would not have been critical towards those receiving higher incomes.

In terms of physical appearance, Obama’s body language conveys a strong sense of confidence. Some hand gestures may be seen as excessive, however most can agree that they fit well with the message. Using facial expressions, he able to express both a joking attitude, along with a serious expression whenever needed.

As a final comprehensive thought, Barack Obama employs many strategies and tactics to be able to gain new supporters, as well as retain already existing ones. He is descriptive, repetitive, and knows his audience. He is able to control his body and conform it to the speech. Using these tactics, he was able to become President of the United States of America. If history repeats itself, we may soon see him as president once again.

Obama's Speech

Obama’ s Speech

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) speech of Barack Obama in 2012 is important since it decides if Obama can remain as the president of United States for four more years. Obama organized the whole speech carefully, and his speech is excellent overall.

Obama delivered his speech well. He enunciates clearly, and had meaningful hand gestures. However, people can find that Obama has too much hand gestures when we look aside of the podium. The facial expression is serious, but can be more emotional. The vocal variety is great, because there are no monotones in Obama’s speech. Additionally, there are few filler words found in the presentation. Obama made several long pauses for suspension. Moreover, after every joke or when audience starts cheering, Obama waits for everyone to quiet down instead of continuing his speech.

The content of Obama’s speech is overall excellent. First, he thanked everyone who supports him and convinced his daughters, which is a humorous and enthusiastic beginning. When he gets into his topic, Obama first talked about the past four years when he was first elected to be the president. He used several sentence parallelisms to express his strong emotion, and explained he is running for the second term president not for himself, but in order to improve the life of United States citizens, such as rebuilding the economy on a stronger foundation. He also gave some examples about people who gave him the hope. Obama tells everyone about tasks he is willing to complete for the next four years if he is elected. He also mentions other problems that are not yet solved.

Obama tries to convince people to vote for him since he wants to improve the economy, build new plants and buildings and create new energy that can power America’s future. He believes that future is filled with hope; he believes that hope gives him spirit, and he will make the future of his country wonderful.

The speech of Barack Obama convinces every single person who hears it, and we should believe that our world will be improved if he is the president of United States.

Hope - The review of Obama’s 2012 DNC Speech

Obama, the first black man in history to become leader of the great nation of America, was a great speaker.  This skill brought him to the top, this skill made the crowds go wild. Obama used several different public speaking skills and combined different styles in his speech at the democratic national convention. His speech wasIHis speech was fdffdfffffffff explanatory, informative, and persuasive.

Obama was explanatory all through his speech, and explained to everybody what he did in the past four years and how he made America Stronger.  He recalled the memories of four years ago what he promised. He promised to stop Bin Laden and his terrorist group, promised to cap interest rates on payday loans and improve disclosure, promised to provide tax credits for automakers to build fuel-efficient cars, promised to stop giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas, and would start giving them to companies that created good jobs in America and so on. Obama stressed to explain in details that he did his best to keep all his promises. He sent a strong message to his fellow democrats and all of world to say that he did the right things in the past four years.

In his speech Obama was also informative. Obama told everyone what his plan would be for the next four years. He told everyone that he would lower the cost of Medicare for the retired and the elder. He told everyone that he would solve America’s financial problems. Obama said he would extend the loan program for small businesses. He made many other promises at the democratic national convention, and has told everyone just how he would keep those promises.

In Obama’s speech, he also was persuasive.  He persuaded the audience into thinking that he would make the better president in next four years. He persuaded Americans to move forward and to give him more time. By comparing what he had done in the past four years and showing what he did better than his competitor, Obama persuaded Americans to vote for him. He said, “The road ahead will be long, but we will get there.  Obama had tried to persuade the crowd by making promises that would benefit America and her people.

To conclude President Obama’s public speaking skills, we would say he was a good chef to blend all of his speaking skills smoothly, and “Hope” was his signature dish. His confident body posture, his beautiful cadence, his courtesy, his generous caring words, his enthusiasm, generated a successful speech. He made every single individual in the audience, elder or young, poor or rich, whom felt a sense of belonging, and having their presence known. He made everyone think that the road ahead will be tough in fixing the damage caused by the past, but if they follow under his leadership, the great nation of America shall prevail.

Obama might not be the best president as America’s financial problem was not improved significantly in his years of presidency. However, Obama was truly one of the best speakers in the world. Even though we thought he was telling a fairy tale at the moment, but we fell in his dream land when he spoke. Hope President Obama’s hopes come true. Best luck to President Obama and America!

2012 DNC Speech Review - Anna

Barack Obama is considered one of the world’s best speakers, alongside Les Brown and Bill Clinton. But, what makes him such a great speaker? Confidence? Maybe. What makes him such a great speaker is what he does when he speaks, the message behind his words, and how he is an inspiration to people around the globe.
